This community’s support for Salmon Bay FC’s launch has been incredible.
What a whirlwind these past few days have been. When we first dreamed up Salmon Bay FC, we knew Seattle had an incredible appetite for women’s soccer. But nothing could have prepared us for the absolutely electric response since our announcement.
The Rough and Tumble launch party exceeded all expectations. The venue was packed to capacity, with hundreds of supporters bringing an energy that reinforced exactly why Seattle is the premier soccer city. Seeing the crowd’s response to the launch video and already working on chants – it exemplified the organic community we hoped to build. Every decision in building this club has been intentional and purposeful, from our ownership model to the landscape featured in our badge, and the response shows that the Ballard community shares our vision for transforming women’s sports.
The celebration continued at Reuben’s Brews, where the enthusiasm only grew stronger. Hundreds of supporters packed the taproom for an intimate Q&A session with Seattle soccer legends Lu Barnes and Kelyn Rowe. The conversations about the future of women’s soccer in Seattle were inspiring. These meaningful connections between the team and supporters are exactly what makes this club special.
The numbers tell a story, but it’s really about what they represent. 2,000 Instagram followers in under 48 hours? That’s not just clicks and follows – that’s 2,000 people saying “we believe in this vision.” And speaking of belief, we’ve already got 600 season ticket holders (and counting!) who’ve committed to being part of our inaugural season. Every single one of those tickets represents a family, a fan, a future memory-maker at our matches.
What’s touched me most has been the reception from the broader soccer community. From our peers to national soccer media, the message has been clear: Seattle isn’t just ready to grow the women’s soccer landscape – Seattle is setting the standard for what a community-driven club should look like.
This is just the beginning. We’re building something special here, and it’s happening because of each and every one of you. Keep bringing that energy, keep spreading the word. We are Salmon Bay FC.
With gratitude,
Tiffany Mallick
