Salmon Bay FC’s biggest match of the season is this Sunday as they host division leaders, FC Olympia. Sunday is the club’s Pride Match as they will celebrate the LQBTQIA+ individuals in and around the Seattle community.

Salmon Bay FC is a proud member of Common Goal, where one percent of the Bridges United Foundation’s profits go every year. One of Common Goal’s biggest initiatives is Play Proud, a “grassroots-driven program that works with all stakeholders in soccer to make communities and stadiums a safer space for the LGBTQ+ community.”
Salmon Bay FC is honored to have been part of the 2024 Play Proud cohort, alongside other incredible Seattle soccer organizations. Play Proud is a grassroots-driven initiative that brings together all stakeholders in soccer to create safer, more inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals. As part of this program, the club completed over 100 hours of in-person training to promote inclusivity and safety within soccer, the game we love.
On Sunday, the club will celebrate the work that’s been done and the work still being done to help make soccer a better space for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Now, it’s time to meet Sunday’s opponents.
FC Olympia

FC Olympia has been a juggernaut so far this season in USL W, winning all of their matches and currently sit atop the Northwest Division standings and are a top three team in the entire country.
So far the Olympia attack, led by USL W Team of the Month’s Ginny Lackey, has been scoring goals for fun. However on Sunday they will come up against the best defense in the entire league as Salmon Bay FC has only allowed one goal all season.
Olympia’s defense is quite impressive as well as they have only conceded twice this season. Salmon Bay will need to make that three or more times this Sunday despite only scoring two goals in their three league home matches this season. Hallie Bergford seems the most likely candidate as she leads the team in scoring and is the only player to score a league home goal so far this season.
Sunday’s matchup looks like it will be a strength v. strength battle as Olympia’s high-flying attack goes up against Salmon Bay’s lockdown defense.
