Salmon Bay FC continued their winning form with a 1-0 home win against Lane United, giving the hosts their fourth straight win and second in a row against Lane.

Salmon Bay kicked off at 2pm on a beautiful Saturday in front of a packed Interbay Stadium. The match was very back and forth in the opening 10 minutes as both teams settled into the match.
Then, center back duo Kaya Hanson and Keeley Dockter began to set the tempo from the back, spraying the ball with ease and helping establish Salmon Bay’s control over possession.
The best early chance came in the 12th minute, as first-time starter Freya Jupp broke free down the wing and cut a dangerous cross across the face of goal that was scrambled clear by Lane United’s busy defense.
After continuously pushing for the opener, the breakthrough finally came in the 31st minute, and it was one to remember.
After a short corner was recycled around the top of the box, Campbell Carroll flicked the ball over the Lane defender and into the path of Hallie Bergford. Bergford deftly controlled the ball with her first touch and smashed a volley into the far corner with her second as the crowd erupted in celebration.
The hosts nearly doubled their lead minutes later as Maia Tabion, who had been dangerous throughout the first half, continued to test Lane’s defense. She had multiple shots from the top of the box that missed narrowly.
Salmon Bay ended the half in full control, limiting Lane United to little possession in their final third while creating chance after chance.
Three halftime substitutions added fresh energy, as Samiah Shell, Hannah Dickinson, Aliyah Dockter, and Alex Chang entered the match.
Right from the restart, Salmon Bay were on the front foot with Bergford nearly connecting on a low cross inside the six-yard box just seconds into the half.
Shell made an instant impact when she came on, creating lots of new problems for Lane’s defense.
In the 49th minute, she broke through two defenders and rifled a shot toward the far post, forcing a diving stop, and continued unleashing efforts on goal throughout the half.
From a resulting corner, Bergford flicked a header on to A. Dockter, who got a clean strike off, but was denied by a sharp reflex save.
Chances kept coming for Salmon Bay, who looked to seal off the win. In the 60th minute, Bergford held off her defender and laid it off to Tabion, who curled a shot just wide of the far post. Minutes later, Shell drove into the box again, creating another rebound opportunity that Bergford sent just over the bar.
At the other end, Salmon Bay’s defense remained unbreakable, as it has been all season. Lane United couldn’t find any space in or around the box, and Dickinson, who made her league debut in goal, wasn’t troubled.
In the 70th minute additional changes were made by the. home side to keep up the energy, Bergford and Loudd exited the match for Amelia Severn and Sophie Hanay. Four minutes later, Milly Bray checked in for Tabion.
Salmon Bay continued to press high for the second goal as the match wound to an end.
Severn had a late chance in the 90th, sharply cutting in from the left wing, but placing her shot too close to the keeper.
Salmon Bay’s final attempt came in the 92nd, when Sider-Echenberg beat her defender on the right and forced another strong save with a low strike from close range.
The match ended 1–0, with Salmon Bay maintaining their season long clean sheet and continuing their winning form.
